More stylish pictures

I love this April May top, though I've never heard of April May from Oprah's 8/2008 issue.

I am also loving this dress from Emanual Ungaro. Since Amsale did a dress and Vera did the cabbage roses, I have wanted a dress with a giant flower somewhere on it. I'm also still searching out the perfect dress for my brother in law's wedding. This is idea generating.

A weeknight dinner party - Domino Oct 2008

Head to their site to get all the details on preparing a lamb chop feasts for 6 after work. I've never made lamb chops which is the only part that scares me.

Wedding dress images Modern Bride Winter 2008

I love these looks and how they could be played into something not particularly white wedding wear.

From the top going clockwise:
  • Jim Hjelm with pleats that open nicely over a bust then create a fitted waist.
  • Enzoani with decorated lace straps.
  • A Rivini frock that is perfect as it is
  • Melissa Sweets Reverie. I just love the train with the knitted roses.

How to Recycle Anything - Real Simple Oct 2008

An simply excellent guide, and they were kind enough to post it online for everyone.

Hair Color Ads

I highlighted my hair for our wedding cause I read that in some magazine that I should for pictures. I'm not a fan of highlights on a brunette. I think wonderful glossy brown is all you need. However I saw these two ads this month and thought they might look nice together. I need to go have my highlights redone anyway.

In Real Simple October 2008 they have an article about shiny hair. They recommend you try a Hair Mask or at home gloss, specifically these.

A great way to have a party

I saw this blurb in Oprah's Home magazine for the Fall, and I think it's a great idea. I actually love to have dinner parties through I stress endlessly. I stress over the food, but more so over the guests. how many to invite, will they show, will they be late, did I invite the right mix, too many, too few? OMG!! It is a bother, but it doesn't stop me. I still like it, and even one good one out of 4 will make me have another. Normally, people don't really bring too much stuff to my parties, but I never ask. I read this and make a quick mental list charities I could host, my favorite is Gidget's home, the Lone Star Boxer Rescue. They are great particularly because $800 is a world to them. It is the cost of heartwomr treatment for one dog. So I don't feel bad asking my guest to fork over $25. It's a tax write off for them, and its going to a great cause. I will be having one of these soon enough.

A future guest room

Our guestroom does double duty. Some weekends the girls come over to stay, and other times is it empty awaiting guests. Since we have a small house, just two rooms and a bathroom, this is also a place that we can spend time when no one is there. It is a sometimes sewing or craft room, a movie watching palace, or a yoga studio. However, now it is just cluttered. So we are in the planning process of making it a kid friendly, welcoming, worker-bee kind of room.

In my last post I mentioned some wall paper I found, so I thought I would post my current inspiration board.Far from done, it should give you an idea where it all starts, bold colors and fun in a mature way. The kids will like it, I think. It beats the princess theme they offered as a suggestion for the adults. It was inspired by some Ralph Lauren fabric I bought years ago which will be the bedding for the room. I can't find that online, so I will take my own pictures. If you want links for the items on the board, look here.

Wall Coverings thanks to O at Home 2008

Oprah posted a note about Barbar Hulanicki's wall covering being sold at Graham Brown. Then I went over there just to set up a link for this blog, and I was overwhelmed with the awesome selection. In fact, I'm not sure I adore Barbara's work as much anymore.

Here are my new faves:

This would be gross in some circles, but it is perfect for my plan to reinvent my mother's bathroom in the name of Marie Antoinette.

You are soon going to see this in my hallway. I was just thinking that it needed texture, and grasscloth sounds great.

This belongs in my new bedroom somewhere...maybe in the closet as a liner. With something this busy I think I can only do one wall. That's just me.

This is one for the guest room. It's again, too much for walls. I will have to think of ways to make it work on a smaller scale. Maybe I can cover a table with it?

I adore fonts. No I do.

I have asked, at times, for a font collection for my birthday. I am wishing wishing for FeelScript. I saw this picture in Oprah home, and thought this is a DIY! It is the perfect way to showcase my font of the moment.

Shopping in Savannah

I have always wanted to visit Savannah at some point, ever since watching Midnight in the garden of Good and Evil. So when Domino mag did a spread on the place, I ripped it out of my magazine. Then I found it online, which is infinitely better than me keeping papers lying all over the house.
